Promoting ag industry opportunities at Sort It Careers Expo

The Sort It Careers Expo attracts thousands of students, school leavers and graduates each year, and this year C B Norwood Distributors Ltd decided to join the party. The Expo is a great way for people entering the workforce or those looking for a career change to explore options across a range of industries, all under the one roof.

The message Norwood wanted to share with job seekers was simple – the range of career opportunities in both the agricultural industry and at Norwood is HUGE.

While the typical ‘tractor jobs’, like sales representative or service technician, are the ones that most easily come to mind for many people looking at Norwood as an employer, the range of career pathways and the types of experience and skill sets we’re looking for are vast. From supply chain management to marketing to finance to IT to logistics, there’s a lot on offer at Norwood.

“Part of our aim at the Sort It Careers Expo was to open people’s eyes to how many different types of skill sets Norwood have positions for. There are so many different departments within Norwood that all play a massive role in achieving our purpose – to keep farmers moving” said Marketing Team Leader, Holly Steger.

“As a company, Norwood are really committed to providing training and skill development opportunities for our employees. There’s a lot of emphasis on promoting from within, so it’s easy for employees to see their long-term career development opportunities within the company” said Holly.

Technological innovation is a key component to Norwood’s success, and we were able to give Expo visitors some unique experiences thanks to the help of our product and IT teams. Through VR goggles and a driving simulator, visitors were able to experience driving New Holland and Case IH tractors and operating machinery. It’s not quite the same without the VR goggles, but you can have a look at the footage at The combine harvesters, in particular, where a popular choice to experience.

HR Manager Paula McKenzie said that the Norwood site was a big hit and generated plenty of interest from those who attended. “We’ll be back next year for sure”.
